Welcome Message

Dear colleagues and friends,

It is a great pleasure to announce that the Korea Physics Community will host the 39th International Conference on High Energy Physics (ICHEP2018) in Seoul from the 4th to the 11th of July 2018.

The ICHEP is the vital platform for exchanging recent achievements and discussing future facilities in particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology. The first conference was held at Rochester in 1950. Since then, the ICHEP has served as the core arena for leading experimentalists and theorists of the world to share exciting results and new ideas.

A wide-ranging scientific program consisting of plenary lectures, parallel sessions, and satellite meetings as well as poster sessions for young scientists covering all topics in high energy physics will be scheduled. At ICHEP2018 in Seoul, many important results are expected to come from the LHC Run II experiments, neutrino physics, dark matter, gravitational wave, and cosmology. The Korean Physics Community is very proud to host this prestigious conference in Seoul, the capital city of Korea of more than five hundreds of years.

We look forward to seeing you at ICHEP2018 in Seoul, Korea.

The skyline near the conference place COEX and an image of an oriental dragon eating its own tail, symbolizing dark world and the visible Universe made of the SM particles. The background is the proclamation of Korean alphabet to Koreans, Hangeul, by King Sejong in 1446, starting with "Korean language is too different from Chinese......". The statue of King Sejong with this proclamation is in Gwanghwamun Plaza. The small flame is our hope for dark matter to be discovered. White porcelains were popular during Yi Dynasty. A typical white base (the porcelain image) is holding the Winter-Olympic flame in PyeongChang now (since February 9, 2018). Small petroliumlamps were used in most households before the electric lamp became widespread in the first half of the 20th Century. Merrymakers of a namsadangpae celebrate ICHEP2018 Seoul.
